Baby Bookworms

Since I was an English major in college, it should be obvious that books hold a very special place in my heart. I've always felt that reading is a very pleasurable and enjoyable experience, and I'm sad that I don't have much time anymore to just sit down by myself and read a book cover to cover. You know, unless it's about the Berenstain Bears or something. :) And I'm not even as good about reading little books to my girls as I want to be. Yet despite all that, I still catch both girls in the act of picking up books and "reading" them, and the sight warms my heart. I want my babies to grow up loving books and the worlds that we can only visit when we read. Right now, though, I want to invite you into our world so you can see the seeds for a love of learning start to germinate.
I actually took this video way back last May, but I found it again when I had the idea for this post:
A couple of months ago, I was actually sitting down, rereading one of my old books, and Evie climbed up next to me on the couch so she could "read" the book to me. :)
More recently, Evie got some books for Christmas, and loves telling us--over and over again--the story of Simba and his daddy:
Disclaimer: the next couple of pictures are seriously some of the cutest pictures I've ever seen/taken of my already extremely cute babies. If the cuteness is just too much, stop reading now! You have been warned!
This is quite possibly my favorite book from my childhood!
Surprise! Seriously, one of my favorite pictures ever!
This video is fun to watch for a couple of reasons. 1) I think it's funny that she doesn't know how to open the book yet. 2) It's hilarious to watch her slowly tipping over inch by inch.
These bookworm babies are so stinking adorable, and so smart! I hope that they always find such joy in reading, just like their Mommy.
